Casey Key, a narrow barrier island on Florida's Gulf Coast, is known for its pristine, secluded beaches and luxurious waterfront estates.

The Venice Train Depot is a historic train station that is found at the southern end of the Legacy Trail. It was constructed in 1927 and the last passenger train passed through in 1971. In 1989, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. Now, the building is open for tours and has several scenic walkways and picnic tables.

This is a great winding trail through a nicely forested area, providing pleasant shade during your run. It makes for a relatively easy run with minimal hills, and the loop is almost a mile in length. Several spots along the way offer stunning views of the area.

Oscar Scherer State Park is filled with campgrounds, singletrack hiking trails, doubletrack biking trails, and the chance to immerse yourself in Florida's nature. The paved Legacy Trail passes through the heart of the park while numerous unpaved paths loop around the property.

Celery Fields is a popular spot for all types of recreationalists in the Sarasota area. The Observation Hill portion of the park (north side of the road) features rolling hills and grassy paths, while the southern side of the road features double-track paths around some reservoirs.

The William S. Boylston Nature Trail is a popular hiking loop in Myakka River State Park. The path is mostly packed sand with some boardwalks and bridges. There are some open meadow sections, but the vast majority of this hike is shaded and tucked in the trees.
