Reaching the peak of Sugarloaf will leave your legs like jelly, so it's a good idea to take a break at the top. While your lungs and legs are recovering take in the panoramic views all around you. Shade is a rare commodity around here, so midday runs are not advised.

With an elevation of about 9,270 feet, Mount Baldy features scenic vistas over Lake Tahoe and the nearby mountains. It can be reached from several directions, but the most common connection is the Tahoe Rim Trail.

Herlan Peak reaches a height of about 8,800 feet and is located in the northeast of Lake Tahoe. It's at the same level as Sand Harbor at the lake shore and therefore offers a great view of the area.

This is a popular spot for hikers and dog walkers, especially around sunset, and you'll need to walk your bike up the last bit of trail. The views across the valley are excellent and worth the hassle of a little push-a-bike.

At 10,335 feet, Relay Peak belongs to the highest summits in the Lake Tahoe Basin and is the highest point on the Tahoe Rim Trail. Compared to its surrounding peaks, Relay Peak is rather easy to reach but still offers amazing views of the surrounding area and Lake Tahoe.

A relatively steep and challenging ascent before you get to this point as you ascend over 400 feet in elevation. However, the rewarding panoramic views of the Reno area make the effort well worth it.

A somewhat flat and pleasant trail leads you to Huffaker Hills, where you are greeted with breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Hidden Valley, and the Reno Valley.
