Lakes Loop Hike This beautiful loop hike has it all: big views of Baker and Shuksan mountains and the North Cascades, alpine lakes for swimming, and a well-maintained trail that winds through meadows and heather. And with wildflowers in the spring, blueberry bushes for trail snacks in late summer, and glowing colors in the fall, you can't pick a bad time of year to visit.

Enjoy views of glacial-fed Diablo Lake, located within the heart of North Cascades. See rugged mountains that rise around the lake and the historic Diablo Dam in the distance. Learn about water, geology, glaciers, and the plants and animals that call this place home.

It is pretty in its own way, a quiet lake with beautiful reflections, yellow water lilies and silvered logs floating on the surface. The tufts of grass and moss growing on the floating logs create a small ecosystem that can be observed up close.

Also known as the Hertz Trail, the North Lake Whatcom Trail is an easy trail that runs right along Lake Whatcom. There are great views of the lake, several waters and a few bridges. The trail is not paved, so it is not suitable for road bikes. There is almost no elevation change, so it is not a strenuous trail.

Spanning over 23 acres, it is home to abundant largemouth bass and other fish species, making it a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts. It serves as a vital trout-raising location, contributing to stocking numerous lakes, streams, and ponds in Washington state. Whether a quick stop or a leisurely break, this tranquil haven offers the perfect spot to have lunch during a long day of riding.

Cyrus Gates Overlook is an overlook at the end of a 3.5-mile gravel road. There's a huge collection of stairs that descend to Lost Lake from the overlook if you want to lock up your bike and check out the lake.
