The Gilbert Civic Center is a great area to check out special events. There is a modern building and a huge grassy area to lay down in. McQueen Park is a great urban spot with ample parking, restrooms, vending machines, water fountains, picnic tables, and shaded pavilions, making it a highly popular trailhead. It's a fantastic place to take a break during a ride, especially on a hot day.

This trail goes by several different names, as various routes overlap each other. One is the Consolidated Canal Trail, a partly gravel, largely paved route that runs along all 18 miles of this 1891 canal. From its northern end, you can tie this trail in with cycle trails along other canals.

The Dynamite Trail is located in the northwest portion of San Tan Mountain Regional Park. It's 2.5 miles long and can be accessed from either the main park trailhead or the Goldmine trailhead. The trail goes along the foothills of Goldmine Mountain and makes for a great hike in either direction.

This is a great two for one stop in the high desert of Arizona. After a zipline tour, or before if you're brave, you can enjoy the award winning tacos, burgers, and pizzas from the onsite restaurant, Peppersauce Kitchen.

This 320-acre park doesn't get its name from an unlucky traveler, but rather a legendary gold mine that is said to be lost somewhere in the surrounding mountains. You can stay overnight at the campground or just visit for the day on the many trails that access the surrounding Superstition Wilderness, and who knows, maybe you'll stumble on the fabled gold mine!

Sun Circle Trail is a paved multi-use path that goes parallel to the Arizona Canal, Southern Canal and Consolidated Canal, connecting the cities of the Phoenix urban area. The entire loop trail has 300 miles, passing by several parks and preserved open areas.
