This is a lesser known Cascade peak despite its 8000 ft (2449 m) height. This peak is somewhat unique in the relative lack of a treeline, which rarely grow past 6-7000 ft (1800-2100 m). Enjoy the views of other peaks, such as Mt. Thielsen and the Three Sisters. Tipsoo is the Chinook word for 'grass' or 'hair'.

Union Peak is an ancient shield volcano within Crater Lake National Park with an elevation of 7,698 feet. The sharp, towering peak was shaped by glacial erosion during the last ice age. Union Peak is visible from the Pacific Crest Trail and the summit along the rim of Crater Lake.

Along your way up to Mount Scott summit you will gain 1,260 feet of elevation on this 4.3 mile round trip. There are no water sources, so bring enough. The best time to hike this trail is from June to mid October, since the Rim Drive is likely to be closed due to snow in spring and late fall.

The Garfield Peak Trail will lead you up to one of the seven peaks along the rim of Crater Lake. The round trip is roughly 3.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1,080 feet. There is no water on the trail, so fill up your water bottles at the visitor center.
