Highlight marks the main entrance to the park that also includes the caves. The park is popular in spring for its plum trees blooming. The caves are limestone karst caves and open to the public. The caves are illuminated with colorful lights - maybe a little bit kitsch ;-)

3月 5, 2023, Taihu Bridge (太湖大桥)
The Taihu Bridge connects Xishan Island with the 'mainland' and is part of the X206 highway. Actually it is three bridges, as it uses two smaller islets over its ~7km stretch as hubs to connect to Xishan. Cycling over the bridge is on a bike lane, not a separate bike path. Better stay in lane, as cars tend to go pretty fast. As Xishan is a popular tourist spot, traffic can be busy on the weekends after 10am. Better go early ;-)

2月 2, 2023, Scenic Section of X204 Along Taihu Lake
Section of the X204 highway running alongside the lake. Absolutely beautiful. Great road, great views. It ends at the entry to the Taihu Bridge. /edit: it appears the road is closed to general through traffic. The gates at either end of the road can be passed by cyclists - and you can largely have the road to yourself/

2月 6, 2022, Dongshan 东山 Climb
Looking for a climb? Tired of all rides being flat in and around Shanghai? Dongshan offers an opportunity for a climb, great views, and then rounding it off with a long stretch along the lakeside. Going north to south you will start with a short, steep climb and then a very long stretch going downhill with a second, less steep climb. This road is largely closed for through traffic, so cars are very rarely encountered.
