A quiet and pleasant path

The national monument De Helper is a polder mill on the eastern shore of the Paterswoldsemeer lake in the municipality of Haren, province of Groningen, in the hamlet of Nijveensterkolk. Here you can enjoy a lovely walk along the Paterswoldse Meer.

Blauwestad (German: Blaustadt) is a new residential area in the Dutch region of East Groningen, roughly between the towns of Winschoten, Midwolda, Oostwold, Finsterwolde, and Scheemda. The area belongs to the municipality of Oldambt and is part of the Blauwestad project, which primarily aims to stimulate the economy in the region, which is considered part of East Groningen. The area consists of approximately 1,500 houses with areas ranging from 700 to 7,400 m², spread across five separate residential areas: - De Wei - Het Riet - Het Park - Het Dorp and - Het Wold The houses are generally in the more expensive price ranges. A house in "Het Dorp" costs around €250,000 in the lower price ranges, and in the higher price ranges, where you can find a house with many extras, such as a balcony, the price is around €1,500. B. a private boat parking space directly at the house, around one million euros. The residential area is located on the Oldambtmeer.

Nice place to go 1/2 hour before sunset! Lots of birds to spot, geese, but also a crane seen. Exciting boardwalk with one-way traffic.

The Helper Mill is named after the Helpman polder that he drained from 1863. In the 1960s the mill was out of use and fell into disrepair. In 1971 it was moved to its current location on the Paterswoldsemeer. The mill is now used for drainage for water circulation of the ditches next to the lake. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the view over the lake on one of the benches on a sunny day.

Nice one-way boardwalk in 't Roegwold. Unfortunately, when I was back on the mainland, I saw a stubborn couple along the way, who walked the boardwalk against the direction of walking. The boardwalk is quite narrow. Halfway along the path is a small island with a bench.
