The ferry between Schoonhoven and Gelkenes is a vital connection across the Lek River, dating back to 1429. Two modern ferries, the Stad Schoonhoven and the Zilverstad, operate regularly for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. The ferry operates frequently and is essential for traffic between Krimpenerwaard and Alblasserwaard.

Schoonhoven Town Hall dates from 1452 and was built in the late Gothic style, complete with a wooden bell tower. It has been preserved as a national monument since its restoration between 1927 and 1929 and houses an impressive carillon with 50 bells, many of which were cast by Van den Gheyn. The building still serves as a wedding venue and a municipal landmark.

The Veerpoort in Schoonhoven is a historic city gate dating from 1601, built as part of the city's defenses and flood defenses. It is the only remaining gate and features a distinctive Dutch Renaissance style. Today, the gate serves as a gallery and tourist attraction, offering views of the Lek River and a cozy brasserie nearby.

The official name is Lange Weidsche Boezem and is part of the drainage system of the Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden and runs from the Dubbele Wiericke to the Hollandse IJssel.

The Haastrechtse Molen is a historic polder mill in Haastrecht, South Holland. Built in 1862, it originally served to drain the Vlistpolder. It is a round stone mill with a thatched roof. Today, the mill is operational and is often used on a voluntary basis for educational and cultural purposes.

The ferry service between Schoonhoven and Gelkenes has existed since at least 1429 and connects the Krimpenerwaard with the Alblasserwaard.

For many cyclists/tour cyclists a well-known apple pie stop. Too busy for me on Sundays but what a nice village this is and how beautifully situated it is on the water
