The Dúrcal River, in the heart of the Lecrín Valley (Granada), is a spectacular natural area, ideal for hiking, photography, and water sports. It rises in the western part of the Sierra Nevada mountains and flows into the Guadalfeo River, near the Rules Dam. It is a short river, but highly attractive due to its waterfalls, pools, and gorges. Typical riparian forest vegetation includes willows, ash trees, poplars, and aspens.

We did this hike as a family with two children aged 7 and 11. The first part is very nice, but be careful, there are many river crossings to cross, so you quickly get your shoes wet. The landscapes overlooking the water reserve are magnificent. Be careful, the last part of the walk is very difficult, especially with children, because you have to climb 150m of altitude in full sun and at the end of the walk. The children were exhausted.

Temple of the Barrio Alto de Pinos del Valle (19th century). It has a source of drinking water where we can replenish ourselves during the routes through this area.

The reservoir offers us beautiful views. Despite the proximity to the water, it is a place with few trees along the way. This must be taken into account in summer.

Small white mountain village. The landscape is a great area, the asphalt here is good to decent and there is very little traffic.

The road between Pinos del Valle and Restábal is a quiet route that runs near the Béznar Reservoir, in the province of Granada. With beautiful views of the reservoir and the Sierra Nevada, it is an ideal place for cycling enjoying nature and the tranquility of the surroundings.
