Beautiful viewpoint of the Foyle Bridge

The Peace Bridge is a striking pedestrian and cycle bridge spanning the River Foyle. Opened in 2011, the bridge serves as a symbol of unity, connecting the city's Protestant and Catholic communities. Its distinctive, sweeping design by architect WilkinsonEyre has garnered international acclaim.

This traffic-free cycle path runs alongside the River Foyle, and is part of the Foyle Valley cycle route connecting Derry City to the border towns of Lifford and Strabane. The River Foyle is 80 miles long (129 km) and is one of the fastest flowing rivers in Europe for its size.

Situated on a site adjacent to the Strabane bypass, the 'Let the Dance Begin' sculpture by Maurice Harron is an ensemble of five stainless steel and bronze figures. Commissioned by the former Strabane District Council in collaboration with the Strabane Lifford Development Commission, this artwork symbolises the transition to the new millennium. The statues, standing at an impressive height of approximately 30 foot (10 m) have affectionately been named "The Tinnies" by the locals.

The Peace Bridge crosses the river Foyle in the town of Derry. It is accessible for cyclists and pedestrians only. The bridge holds significance as a symbol of peace in this area with a troublesome history. For long-distance cyclists, it is famous as the location of the first checkpoint during the annual TransAtlanticWay bike race.

The bridge was inaugurated in 2011. The former barracks on the other side of the river are just being "spruced up".
