Campbeltown is peaceful town located on a deep bay sheltered by Davaar Island and surrounding hills. It was once known as ‘the whiskey capital of the world’.

One of the highlights of Campbeltown. You can do the whole tour or just pick something up in the shop, but it's well worth a visit.

Fine southern Highlands town with a ferry port that takes you to Arran or N. Ireland. There are two distilleries and loads of pubs too - well worth exploring!

Quiet road that hugs the coast and offers great views over to the west side of Arran.

Glen Scotia is one of the smallest Scotch whisky distilleries in Scotland. However, it is one of the Campbeltown heavyweights, a place synonymous with first-class Scotch. The small town was once the ‘whisky capital of the world’ with a distillery on every corner. The distillery retains many original features, including the fermenters, the stillroom, and the dunnage warehouse, which date to the 1830s. There are distillery tours available and a shop. Campbeltown was once hailed as ‘the whisky capital of the world’, with 34 distilleries. Only three survive in the peaceful little town these days. Do not fear, though, good quality Scotch is still in plentiful supply. Nestled in a deep bay sheltered by Davaar Island and the surrounding hills, the town is the perfect base for exploring Kintyre. You find accommodation, places for food and drink, shops, and other attractions.

Dating back to around 100 to 200 AD, Kildonan Dun is a well-preserved fortified farmstead between Campbeltown and Carradale. The crumbling walls, surrounded by farmland, would once have been used to house people and livestock. You can explore the remarkable ruins which overlook the ocean. Entrance is free.

Be careful - it is just coast which is wild. Otherwise it is main road and quite busy.
