Keep an eye out for swans and heron as you go across. It is an interesting experience to be on the bridge when a train passes. There is a useful little yellow L-shaped ramp at the side of the steps to wheel a bike up, but it's still hard work if the bike is heavy or loaded (or both!)

At the southern tip of the Easter Ross peninsula is Nigg, a small village on the north shore of the Cromarty Firth. Here you can take a small ferry to the village of Cromarty. The landscape is dominated by a series of large yellow scaffold-like structures known as ‘jackets’ to provide foundations for offshore wind generators.
