The white horse at Uffington, carved out of the hillside and coloured with white chalk is believed to be the oldest in Britain, and of a much simpler style than the other chalk horses that it inspired since. Historians date it to the Iron or Bronze age, and at over 100 metres long (over 328 feet) is heralded as an incredibly early example of minimalist art.

The ancient white horse hill along the Ridgeway offers fabulous views, especially when the sun is low on the horizon.

Good/hard climb up but the view is worth the pain

Off road link to the Old Ridgeway. Muddy surface, good for Gravel Bikes if its reasonably dry, or MTB all year round.

The Blowingstone is a perforated rock in a humble garden at the foot of Blowingstone Hill, part of the Wessex Down escarpment that hosts the Ridgeway National Trail. If you blow through one of the stone's many holes in the right way, it makes a loud booming sound. Legend says that it's how King Alfred The Great summoned his troops from atop the White Horse Hill for the Battle of Ashdown.

Try not to stop on way up if on road bike with cleats, hard to get going again!!

On the border with Oxfordshire, the village lay on a quiet hilly countryside. Some typical grass roofed cottages and a pond give the visitor the feeling to be inside a postcard.

Great area for walking or cycling on and off-road.

Lovely place to stop and take in the views over Oxfordshire. Great roads to ride on one side of it and the Ridgeway trail on the other side, which is excellent for mountain biking or walking.
