A quiet lane through a beautiful wooded valley. The woods besides this section of lane are called "The Pinetum" which means an area of land where conifers are grown.

Biddestone is a small, picturesque, Cotswold village in north west Wiltshire. It has a small Norman church (St. Nicholas's), two pubs (the Biddestone Arms, and the White Horse) and a duck pond in the village green. The settlement dates from Saxon times, though most buildings in the centre of the village are from the late 18th century.

Erected in 1859, the Three Shires Stones mark the point where Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire meet. Although the marking is pretty impressive, it's nestled at the side of the main road, part of the Fosse Way, so it's easy to miss. It's said that the stones were once part of an ancient burial chamber.

There is a shop at the crossroads, which is also a postal point. In front of the shop you can relax at a picnic table and have something to eat or drink. Biddestone is such a lovely tiny Cotswolds village 😍 - also known as „Carsley“ in the British comedy-drama television program“Agatha Raisin“, which is based on M. C. Beaton's book series of the same name about a former PR agent who solves crime mysteries in the Cotswolds.
