In 2016, Bath Spa University purchased the former Herman Miller factory in Locksbrook, a modern riverside listed building designed by Nicholas Grimshaw and Farrell & Grimshaw and built in 1976, to become the new home of the Bath School of Art and Design. The building used a flexible movable panel design and won several awards, including the Financial Times Industrial Architecture Award for 1977 and the RIBA South West Award in 1978. Detailed redevelopment plans are being drawn for it to become the new home of the Bath School of Art and Design

Community grocery shop has gone. Cafe and small bike shop continue. Cake and sweet snacks are stale on a Sunday.

Savage

One of my favourite stretches of road. On a summer's day it's beautiful. Best done heading away from Bath rather than towards as otherwise it drags a little due to the slight gradient and it being reasonably exposed to the wind.

Nice and long descent after Bathford hill / the less steep up to the golf course from the other direction. Surface is good, long and straight so very safe. Check across to your right halfway down to look across to Monkton Farleigh Manor.

Bridge here can become very congested with cars during peak hours. If visiting to appreciate the scenery, try to avoid busy periods for the best experience.

Fun descent and excellent climb the other way (less steep than most in the area). Be careful heading through Bathford with the 20 zone and parked cars.

Short but sweet bridleway descent though some woods down to the A365. Holds up in wet conditions.

Handy footbridge connecting the South side of Bath with the Avon canal path and Bristol/Bath cycle path. Sign on bridge says cyclists dismount.

Friendly cafe with a nice outdoor seating area in the centre of Melksham. Open 8:00 - 17:00 Mon to Sat & 9:00 - 16:00 on Sun.

We were on a big cycling loop and found this lovely cafe. They were super friendly and let us in through the back with our bikes and had a delicious extra hot almond latte! Highly recommend, amazing hospitality!

Perfect coffee stop with garden seating and plenty of space for bikes. Not much savoury food on offer but sweet things and great coffee.

One of the more impressive crescents in the country and nicely located next to the park unlike many others tugges within housing areas. This allows quite nice views (and photos) also from a distance.

National Trust managed Lacock Village is accessible to all. Visit several Harry Potter film locations in the village including Harry's parent's house. The NT Stables café is in the car park opposite the main entrance to Lacock Abbey. There are public toilets next door and plenty of outside seating. It is open from 10:00 - 17:00. Lacock Abbey is paid entry to non-NT members.

The Bathampton Inn opens from 11:00 - 23:00 Mon to Sat and 11:00 - 22:30 Sun.
