Offroad track to cut through to Poundbury Road. Two bridges over river cerne

The remains of the old Market Cross from the 15th century, standing at the junction of Dorchester Road and Church Road. It consists of a square base and the lower part of a rough-hewn square stem, the whole thing standing about 5 feet high. It has beaded angles and on the west face are the much-weathered figures standing on a corbelled projection.

Stopped here couple of times. Friendly and good service with good food. Made to feel very welcome even when very wet. Good local/community feel. Seemed to be a knitting master class on one visit - knit and natter perhaps. Say hello to the horse who will be pleased to see you - probably expecting food...

Sad to say but this has not come back after COVID

As djcwey2402 says this is a much easier going now and even a few less gates. Used in winter after a bit of rain and it was fine - it would have involved a bit of walking in the old state.

Grade II, Tower C15, chancel 1874, nave 1875. Chancel by Ewan Christian, nave by G R Crickmay. All that remains of the old church is the 15th century tower and a Norman arch. The church organ used to be a fairground organ.
