The floating harbour was opened in 1809. This revolutionised Bristols harbour, trapping waters of the tidal river and allowing boast to remain afloat. Two sets of locks control the water level in the harbour. The commercial use of the harbour stopped in 1975, since then it has transformed into the vibrant leisure area you see today.

Another innovative bridge by the brilliant engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Great coffee cart just after you cross the suspension bridge on the left hand side (if coming from Clifton). Couple of picnic tables available as well.

Great view of the Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge.

You can also go beneath it of course. It's a great ride from the Avon motorway bridge following the Avon up into the Avon gorge at Clifton to pass under the suspension bridge.

Great road that connects Yatton to lots of different droves and lanes in and around Nailsea. Lots to explore and completely flat lanes brilliant for road cycling

Great sprint when it's not too busy...or windy!

Love this section of the Avon Cycle Way it's also so pleasant to ride and a much better alternative than cycling on the main road from Portishead

Quiet road between Portishead and Clevedon. Great for avoiding the main road and generally see barely any cars along here. Often shared with horse riders and walkers so ride sensibly
