A lovely walk at any time of the year, there is a steep ascent, good footwear and a pole are advisable.

A beautiful granite outcrop overlooking the Plym valley, and surrounding woodland. The cliff itself is a somewhat stark contrast to the rest of the moor, it's lush and tree lined, rather than wind-swept and desolate. Even the rock type is much different, it's generally much finer and smoother granite, rather than the big sharp crystals as found elsewhere on the moor. The cliff offers some fantastic rock climbing, and some brilliant open views.

Kit Hill sits high above the Tamar Valley, overlooking the river and the valley it formed. The hill boasts a wide array of history, including 18 burial mounds, neolithic and bronze-age barrows, as well as pointers towards Cornwall's more contemporary mining history.

Pew Tor is a peak in Dartmoor National Park. The tor rises above the lowlands of Whitchurch and Plaster Downs above Tavistock. The tor has plenty of large boulders to climb around on to try and get the best views of the surrounding countryside, and is quite close to roads and parking, so makes a perfect scramble for those not wishing to walk too far.

Feather Tor is a small tor on Whitchurch Common, not too far from the B3357 road at Pork Hill. To the east lies Vixen Tor, and to the south is Pew Tor. The best known feature in the area has to be Windy Post Cross, a cross thought to have been placed here in the 16th century, beside the Grimstone and Sortridge Leat.

Another trig pointed Marilyn but nothing to write home about. A pretty part of the world no less. A 2.5 mile (4 km) windy stroll up Kit Hill 1,095 feet (334 m) near Tavistock before the wind and rain starts in earnest.

Standing on the western edge of Dartmoor, Cox Tor offers fantastic views all around but notably to the west where the moor drops away and fields roll into the distance. To the east and north, some of Dartmoor’s wildest sections are visible and it can be very atmospheric. At 1,450 feet (442 m) high, it’s the perfect vantage point from which to see White Tor, Great Staple Tor and Great Mis Tor. Its bulk is home to numerous ancient hut circles so to hike up here is to hike in the footsteps of Bronze Age peoples. On the summit, you’ll find a trig point and possibly some blustery wind.
