From up here you can see across the wide expanse of sand that makes up Widemouth Bay. It is popular with surfers so this is a good spot for watching. Towards the south of the beach you can see Black Rock stretching out into the water.

The Old Laundry gives a glimpse into the canal's industrial past. Now self-catering holiday accommodation it was originally a saw mill, used to produce timber for the canal boats. As the use of canals decreased, the saw mill was repurposed as a laundry for the developing holiday trade. The grade II listed building was converted into four houses in the 1980s.

Cycling along Marine Drive offers fantastic views of the sea and the Cornish coastline. Here you can look south onto Widemouth Bay and beyond.

Widemouth Bay is a long sandy beach popular with families and surfers. During the summer you'll find a cafe, an ice-cream & snack shack, plenty of surf schools and public toilets. There are fantastic views of the beach and coastline from the car park. There are lifeguards present May to September and at weekends/half term during October.

Bude Canal was built in 1823 to allow the transportation of mineral rich sand from Bude and the surrounding area inland to fertilize agricultural land. This revolutionised farming in the area and also allowed slate and granite to be transported to the sea. The canal was abandoned in 1891 and restoration is in progress.
