Since 1888, the King Harry Ferry has connected St Mawes and the Roseland Peninsula with Feock, Truro, and Falmouth. It is one of only five chain ferries in England and runs every 20 minutes, completing the trip in 7 minutes. It carryies over 300,000 cars annually and it helps save around 1.7 million kg of CO₂. Warning: this trail only works at low tide, so we had to turn around and take the inland route via sheep pastures and the small town of Crantock. If you want to walk along the river, you should find out about the tides beforehand and watch out for the appropriate time slot.
