At a main crossroads of the Bristol - Bath cycle path, there is this. Mangotsfield railway station. It's now been taken over by nature & is utterly gorgeous! Opened in 1869, and lasting all the way to closing 100 years later, it had a really good run! It goes to show how quickly times were changing in the 19th & 20th centuries. What I love about it is that it's been left there. It's so surreal & beautiful. The platforms are obvious, a similar height to today, and there's a waiting room structure as well. It's all been reclaimed by nature in the last (almost) 50 years. If we allow nature the time and space; it will come back.

This is an interesting location around the Old Mangotsfield Station. There are two big walls adjacent to each other that are free standing, these look like listed buildings. The cycleway around this area is good

Brilliant route for kids on bikes- they love riding though tunnels!

Opened in 1918 the signal box controlled the level crossing here. The railways closed between 1966 and 1968 but a local chap rented the box and thus stopped it being destroyed. It's now a grade 2 listed building and was restored by the council. Today the friends of the area look after the box, cafe and community garden.

Staple Hill tunnel is a disused railway tunnel that was originally part of the Midland Railway's Mangotsfield and Bath Branch Line, which connected Bristol and Bath. The tunnel runs for approximately 1.1 miles (1.8 km) through the hillside, and was opened in 1869. It is now an iconic part of the Bristol-Bath railway cycling path. The cycle path takes up less than half the width of the tunnel and the rest of the floor consists of uneven rocks. The tunnel is lit all year-round, but cyclists are advised to turn their lights on. The roof leaks in places, giving the appearance of rain.

The tunnel is currently (6/22) in rather poor condition. Please turn your headlights on while riding through the tunnel - safety first!

Lovely little coffee van based opposite the Fishponds Fish on the Bristol-Bath Bike Path. Monday Closed Tuesday Closed Wednesday 07:30 - 15:30 Thursday 07:30 - 15:30 Friday 07:30 - 15:30 Saturday 07:30 - 15:30 Sunday 08:00 - 15:30 The coffee is great and the pastries amazing! They even have plenty of vegan options all at a very reasonable price.

A great alternative to the ring road track. The Pomphrey Hill end is a little muddy in winter, but nothing too bad. The other end is magnificent gravel and the middle compacted hardcore.

A nice off-road track leads to or from "Le Col de Rodway" and the brilliant Bristol to Bath cycleway.

The drainage on both entry and exit to the tunnel has recently been improved and so far there is visibly less surface water…..but it has not been tested yet with a heavy downpour…..fingers crossed 😀

When its dry this little trail is could be ridden on road bike with thin tyres, though best suited gravel bike or similar.

Nice place, nice coffee, nice cake

Much nicer than the cycle track on the opposite side of the very busy road and much more in keeping with the Westerleigh cycle track at the other end. Quite hard to spot the entrance at the south-west end... there's a pathway to the left just before the climb over the flyover, then a sharp right down a short gravelly drop.

Perfect coffee and cake stop, nice café with garden (and loo when we're not so COVID) or dangle your feet over the platform edge.

Cuts towards Box hedge farm, seems like good all weather surface

Nice spot for sit down with or without coffe and cake. Theres a petrol station a minute down the road if the cafe is closed
