Legend has it that during a flood in the early 20th century, a cart carrying its entire load of wheat was swept away, and the next day it reappeared intact beneath the central arch of the bridge, as if the river had kept it to return it. The locals considered it a miracle and for years left dried ears of wheat among the stones as an offering. Even today, in summer, when the water level drops, some of those ears can still be seen trapped in the cracks of the old wall.

It preserves its rural charm with adobe houses, a simple church, and quiet streets, perfect for leisurely strolls. The surroundings are completely flat, with wide, easy-to-ride trails, making it a good place to stop for a rest, refill water, or simply enjoy the most authentic Castilian landscape.

Laguna Salina Grande is located in the Villafáfila Nature Reserve, in the province of Zamora. This lagoon is the largest in the reserve and is an ideal place for birdwatching, especially during winter and spring. One of the most interesting routes to explore the area is the circular trail that passes by Laguna Salina Grande, the Otero de Sariegos bird observatory, and the Roman bridge in Villafáfila. This route offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy the reserve's wildlife and landscape.

This is a beautiful place to cross the Elsa River. The views are beautiful, and the old stone bridge with the arches is impressive.

Bretó is a small town in the province of Zamora, on the east bank of the Esla River in the autonomous community of Castilla y León.

The N-630 as it passes through the province of Zamora and right next to it there is a dirt track. It doesn't follow it all the way, but it's a good trail for mountain biking or gravel.
