The tower of the Convent of San Francisco is the only remaining part of what was once the Franciscan Convent of San Benito. It was located outside the city walls of Zafra, although it is currently within the urban area. The convent was founded and built in the last third of the 15th century by the second Count of Feria, Gomes II Suárez de Figueroa, and his mother, Countess María Manuel. Beginning in 1565, the cloister and dormitories were expanded to accommodate a larger number of religious.

Perched on top of a hill overlooking the city, Feria's medieval castle is famous for its massive keep. A defensive castle dominates the landscape below.

Rolling along the section of the long-distance path of Vía de la Plata between the towns of Zafra and Los Santos de Maimona we will find beautiful ups and downs with views of both towns. We will also cross the Cortinar de la Sierra pine forest, an ideal place for all kinds of outdoor sports.
