Came up here on loaded up trail bikes. Absolutely stunning climb but would probably say best to take the parallel gravel path if on an offroad bike. A tourer with a granny gear or a road bike would have the most fun here. Two distinct sections, the bit leading up to the gate has long stretches of steep followed by stretches of 1-3%, and after the gate its stepped in 10-20% ramps. Think the steepest bit is just before the little waterfall.

Great beach to let the dog have a run-out. The nearby cafe is great!!

Machynlleth is a very popular, pretty and historic market town at the head of the beautiful Dyfi estuary. It is a mecca for its never ending supply of bike trails. It is also an ideal base for exploring the neighbouring countryside. The Dyfi Valley, Snowdonia National Park, Tal-y-Llyn Railway, Clywedog Reservoir, the Vale of Rheidol Railway and Devil's Bridge gorge are all within easy reach of Machynlleth.

A prominent landmark in the centre of Machynlleth, the Clock Tower was built in 1874 to mark the coming of age of the eldest son of the Fifth Marquess of Londonderry. It marks the southern termination of the Snowdonia Way long-distance trail. For supplies, there are plenty of places to stock up in the town.

Meticulously whittled, this rather impressive wooden eagle is definitely worth stopping. Only a stone's throw away from the beach by the way

This is the viewpoint up the hill to the east of Dylife. the best view is north down the Afon Twymyn valley.

Llyn Clywedog is a man made reservoir built between 1965 and 1967 to help regulate the flow of water in the Severn. It's also used to reduce the risk of flooding up and downstream. Amusing comparison but the lake holds the equivalent of 264 billion glasses of water or 550 million baths. The area around the lake is a well kept habitat for many birds and animals including recent visits from ospreys. The lake is well stocked with trout and a popular fishing destination.

Great climbing road through amazing valley, mind the occasional car and livestock.

A long a fairly tough climb on the little road through Dyfi Forest from Aberllefenni until you reach the A487 near the Cross Foxes junction. This follows NCN route 8. The surface isn't great and it's narrow so best as a climb rather than a fast descent. Very pretty though and quiet.

T.H. Roberts is a quirky and tasty coffee shop. It serves great filling food, soups, cakes and drinks and there is plenty of room inside. The only problem is they don't have a bike rack but you can lock your bikes up nearby. Open 9:00 - 17:30 everyday apart from Sunday when they are closed.

Nice little village store, great way to support the community and get some mid ride snacks and a coffee and cake. Open 10:00 - 14:00 everyday apart from Sundays when it's closed.

Busy town with an 'alternative' feel to it. We arrived at about lunchtime on a market day with stalls lining the high street. Lots of cafes with different styles to choose from. Great place to stop for lunch before we embarked on the long climb south.

Cafe run by a local pro cyclist. Great coffee using Coalt Town beans. Variety of plant milks available and varying cakes produced locally. Gruff also stocks and sells a variety of different bikes and parts and operates a workshop from a second room in the building.

The shallow waters of Borth beach make it a popular location for swimming, surfing, fishing, sailing and windsurfing. The small town has a good range of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and local services.

This clock is a landmark in the centre of Machynlleth. It was built by the residents of Machynlleth to celebrate the coming of age of the eldest son of the Fifth Marquess of Londonderry, who lived at Y Plas.
