I've climbed it twice from Lloseta to Alaró, and although it's short, it's a bit of a challenge because it has some demanding slopes, especially when you're carrying a bike loaded with bikepacking accessories. It's a bit of a narrow stretch.

Very nice climb from Bunyola. The road surface has now (2024) been repaired in several places. However, caution is still required on the descent from the top of the pass to the town of Orient, as there are still many potholes, especially before the town entrance. After that, the surface is good and the descent to Alaro is nice. Avoid at weekends when the weather is nice, as the locals drive here in droves with their cars to picnic.

From both sides a great ascent as well as descent. The road is very nicely maintained, there are many hairpin bends and the road is mostly empty (especially in early spring). At the top, you can always linger in the small restaurant.

Orient is a small town in a high valley of the Tramuntana mountain range. There are places to stop for refreshments up here. The trip up to Orient and downhill is fantastically beautiful. Unfortunately, the asphalt from the Coll d'Honor down to Orient is still in bad condition. The section should be driven carefully. Otherwise great route.

This climb can get extremely slippery after a rain shower (even uphill)! Almost slipped in a hairpin bend and then really fell in the descent. Otherwise nice climb!

Once at the top you can admire the Castell Alaro and its castle courtyard, furthermore you have a great view of the Tramuntana peaks, the fertile plain, the La Victòria peninsula and the Cap Ferrutx. On the descent, you can enjoy the best shoulder of Mallorca in the Es Verger farm.

Best reached through “Es Verger”, as there is plenty of parking space and the possibility to make a round trip (follow the GR up and come down the dirt road with a great view down the valley).

Nice biting climb from Bunyola towards Alaro. However, the asphalt is poor, so I recommend choosing the direction from Bunyola to Orient for the climb. The descent from Orient to Alaro is then much easier and safer!
