The Bürersteig Pass is located in the Jura Park Aargau. The Fricktaler Höhenweg runs over the 550 meter high pass and the hike to the Cheisacherturm is also signposted here. The pass is served by the B142 bus service from Gansingen and Remigen, the two villages north and south of the hill. Mönthal, which is also located at the foot of the Bürersteig and is often chosen as the destination for a hike to the Cheisacherturm, also has a bus service to the next largest towns in Aargau.

The area near Eriwis was previously used as a clay pit, but is now a nature reserve. From 1932 to 1998, the Zurich brickworks mined Opalinus clay here to make bricks and roof tiles. After mining was stopped, nature took over again. In 2015, the site was finally bought by BirdLife Aargau and the Eriwis Nature Workshop and rezoned as a nature reserve.
