El Rasillo is a town in Los Cameros that has a livestock tradition. Today it is a tourist town located between the swamp and the mountain. A very special corner that deserves a visit on wheels.

Known as Pantano de Ortigosa or Embalse de González-Lacasa, the dam is located between the towns of Ortigosa de Cameros, El Rasillo and Peñaloscintos, in Camero Nuevo. The reservoir is located on the Alberco river, although its waters come from the Iregua river, where the water is transferred through an underground channel from downstream of Villoslada.

In the Cameros region, this reservoir is a great source of resources. Beautiful place with good views and the possibility of bathing, sunbathing, eating and having a drink.

It began to be built in the year 1545 in a masonry factory. It is a church with a rectangular plan, with a nave with three sections with chapels between buttresses, a transept and an octagonal apse with three levels. It is covered by star-shaped ribbed vaults of different layouts, and has slightly pointed arches. The three-section sacristy is a Baroque construction from the 17th and 18th centuries. The two-bodied tower is from the end of the 16th century. Inside the parish church, the main altarpiece stands out, built in walnut wood, dating from the beginning of the 18th century.

Better known by local people as “El swamp del Rasillo” or “El Pantano de Ortigosa”, it is located at an altitude of 1,000 meters, surrounded by pine forests, in the Sierra de Cameros in La Rioja. There are good views, and the possibility of bathing, sunbathing, eating and having a drink.

Peñaloscintos is an example of typical cameran stone architecture, with its corners with fountains and flowers, very pleasant. The Parish Church of Buen Suceso stands out, from the 18th century. Just a dozen houses, on a hillside and surrounded by nature, has its charm.
