Originally a Roman fortress in a strategic location, the fortress is both a castle and a palace, although it was originally built as a court building to fulfil a military function. Since the 13th century, the Castle of Olite has been called the Palace of the King of Navarre.

The park is largely closed to cars, here nature reigns with silence, bizarre rough areas formed by nature all around, overwhelming.

During the winter months, thousands of sheep graze here.

According to scientists, this was an immense inland sea millions of years ago. Fossils of crocodiles and sea turtles are the evidence.

The castle palace of Olite served as the residence of the kings of Navarre until the union of Navarre with Castile in the 16th century. The complex has been a listed monument since 1925.

Very rolling with varied landscapes perfect for mountain biking or gravel. Be careful, the military sometimes (often) block parts of the park for exercises. Lots of French tourists but as soon as you move away from the car parks there are a lot less people. In case of rain, the ground quickly becomes very sticky (clay) and unsuitable for cycling.

One of the most beautiful castles I have ever visited.

Landscape filled with magnificent and rolling tracks at will. A real joy.
