Swimming in this river is a highly recommended and unique experience. During the summer months, there is a fee to enter (unless you stay overnight at a Montanejos accommodation). There is also a charge for parking in the roadside lot. Outside of peak season, both access and parking are free.

A very nice place to take a break. There were a lot of fallen trees on the way there, but they were easy to avoid. To continue on the trail, you have to cross the river. This was easily possible for us, partly from rock to rock, and we walked a bit in the river. (Only our feet got wet). !But depending on the water level, it could be a problem! (at least if you look at one or two of the other users' photos here 🤔). We also couldn't immediately find the trail markings on the other bank. Eventually, we found a rock with the trail marker. However, the river would have been impossible to cross at this point without standing in water at least up to our waists. Perhaps there was a bridge from one side to the other at some point. Once you're across, it's uphill again for a while.
