9月 21, 2024, Church of San Bartolomé (Logroño)
The church was built in the 15th century and remodeled and completely decorated in the Baroque period. The tower façade was completed during this period. The main altar, which dates back to the first third of the 18th century, is noteworthy. There is an important collection of paintings hanging on the walls of the church and in the sacristy. Among them, the depiction of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, which is located in the presbytery, stands out.

6月 30, 2024, Church of San Bartolomé (Logroño)
The oldest church in Logrono with a very delicately designed entrance portal. The interior is rather simple and made of raw stone, but for once it looks all the more beautiful and therefore soothing.

6月 26, 2024, Bicigrino Statue
“Bicigrino” is a term used on the Camino de Santiago and is a combination of the Spanish words “bici”, meaning bicycle, and “peregrino”, meaning pilgrim1. A Bicigrino is therefore a pilgrim who covers the Camino de Santiago by bicycle21. To receive a Compostela certificate, a Bicigrino must complete at least the last 200 km of a Camino route, ending in Santiago de Compostela. It is a trend that has developed in recent years, with more and more pilgrims choosing to do the Camino de Santiago by bicycle. It's a great way to experience the beautiful landscapes and historic sites along the Camino. 😊

6月 24, 2024, Church of San Bartolomé (Logroño)
The Church of San Bartolomé (Spanish Iglesia de San Bartolomé) is the oldest church in Logroño, Spain. Its construction dates from the 12th century, so it partially preserves the Romanesque style in the head and the first part of the tower, and continued in the 13th century with the Gothic development, with the magnificent arched portal, which contains some Romanesque sculptures that tell the life of Saint Bartholomew and other biblical passages. It has been a listed building since 1866. The Church of San Bartholomé is considered landmark No. 9 on the Way of Saint James, a World Heritage Site. It is 612 km from Santiago de Compostela. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_San_Bartolom%C3%A9_(Logro%C3%B1o)

On stage 8 of the classic Way of St. James, you start in the morning in Logroño and come straight to this beautiful place at the beginning of the stage: ducks swim on the reservoir and squirrels greet visitors. A truly magical place.

5月 29, 2024, Parliament of La Rioja
The Parliament - legislative center of the Autonomous Community of La Rioja, of which Logrono is the capital - occupies the church and cloister of the ancient convent building. The building still retains its original structure despite the subsequent and important renovation works carried out during its use as a barracks, when it housed the tobacco factory, as well as after the fire that devastated the nave of the old church in 1944.
