This is a lovely canal side walk. It is perfect for mountain or gravel biking. It is also something that could be done with children. Very nice.

Villamartín de Campos is a small town in the province of Palencia. If you're cycling through town, you can visit the 15th-century St. Salvator's Church, or venture further down to see the round brick and mud building called the Palomars, which used to house pigeons.

This special zone for the protection of birds located to the south-west of Palencia is part of a project to recover a wetland that covered 5000ha (currently it barely reaches 400ha). Drying of the wetland was done on purpose in the 1960s to open up new farmland.
