Definitely a highlight, but unfortunately, the castle was covered in scaffolding when I visited. The castle dates back to the Middle Ages but was later almost completely rebuilt.

It is the home stadium of Spanish first division club Athletic Bilbao and was opened in 2013 to replace the old San Mamés Stadium. With a capacity of 53,331 seats, it is the largest stadium in the Basque Country and the seventh largest in Spain. The stadium is also known as "La Catedral." It was one of the host venues for UEFA EURO 2020.

I dream about it sometimes. A covered bridge, a reality in Bilbao!

The best starting or ending point for any route. Lots of bars, picturesque views.

Crossing the river on the ferry, really should stare at the top of the bridge!

Entering Bilbao from Bizkaya, along the river and a view on the stadium. Perfect bike lane for kilometres

Very interesting stretch of cycle path along the Ria. There is a lot to see along the route to and from Bilbao.
