It is worth reaching this point since you have a beautiful postcard of the Anayet as well as the Midi d'Ossau

It is a beautiful and natural valley (let's hope it stays that way)

The trail saves a small slope to leave the glacial hollow where the mountain lagoon is and begins a fantastic descent through the geological wonders of the Izas glacial valley. The path makes a long journey to the curve of the Vuelta de Iserias pass and finally descends to the meadows of the Canal de Izas, near the Las Negras waterfall. Remains of paint from the GR-11 (old) remain on the rocks, before the main itinerary of the popular Senda Pirenaica was established in the stage between Candanchú and Sallent de Gállego through the neighboring Canal Roya.

The path climbs the rocky slope directly towards the summit, avoiding small steps and stony ledges. On the ascent there are stone milestones that deviate to the left and lead directly to the Moleta pass. On foggy or blizzard days this section can be difficult to navigate, on the ground it is solid rock and the route is not very clear in some areas. The access to the top looks for a channel on the north face that avoids the walls of the crown of the summit and continues through a panoramic visor surrounding the ring of the mountain. The atmosphere is fantastic with the Midi in the background, the Aisa and Aspe mountains, the Peña Collarada, the Anayet and its cut of volcanic pitons, the marble pits of Los Infiernos, the mass of Balaitus and the high peaks of the Aragonese Pyrenees. La Moleta is a sculpted summit, it is surrounded by a unique rocky nipple, similar to the one its older sister Peña Collarada has. The descent follows the same path through the aerial visor of the north face to the ascent channel, then following the path that goes directly down to the Moleta pass.

The starting point is the urban center of Canfranc Estación, where is the entrance to the old international railway station that was connecting the Canfranc Valley with the French slope between 1928 and 1970, when the track stopped working permanently. The historic building was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and is currently a hotel and exhibition center. The trail runs along the main street of the town in a southerly direction and at the exit it turns to the left on the bridge of the Canal Roya hydroelectric plant that crosses the Aragón river. The path of the trail continues along the Picaube dirt track. At the beginning of the lane there is a panel with local routes and information on trail running itineraries in the Canfranc Valley, identified by colors and numbering. The route chosen to go up to the summit of La Moleta and return through Iserias and the Canal de Izas is number 28. There are also QR codes and a general map. The mountain track draws some sharp curves, first the turnoff for the Ruta de los Melancólicos appears on the left and shortly after the path indicated to La Moleta and the Ibón de Ip leaves on the right. The main lane continues straight ahead towards Picaube and Casita Blanca, an old forest refuge built during reforestation on the slopes of Los Arañones. On the hills along the way there are remains of old military forts from the last two centuries of warfare.
