The "La Croix Saint-MICHEL" standing here, rising above a round stone column, is, as the name suggests, obviously dedicated to the famous archangel. His name (from the Hebrew language) means "Who is like God?" Saint-Michel is often depicted - in paintings or as a statue - with a flaming sword, or occasionally a lance. Michael is one of the archangels who (according to human imagination) occupy the highest rank in the heavenly hierarchy of angelic beings.
