For real men, very tough, on the 30 lane route from Troisvilles 170 km

Carrefour de l'arbre delivers! On our ride (full 259km distance) we arrive here with already 242km in our legs.... The strips start to pile up considerably, which only makes the strip harder. Few opportunities to take the edge, so the bend is treacherous. But the finish is getting closer and closer...

12月 23, 2024, Place du Genéral de Gaulle
Place du Général de Gaulle is an old medieval market place, where a tree has never stood. The traders met here three times a day, in all weathers. Until they received permission from Philip IV of Spain to build the Old Exchange in 1652. The building was finished in 2 years and is made of porous stone, which is why it is painted. The restoration of the front facade was financed by companies, their logos can be found above the top row of windows. This building has 24 homes that are still mostly occupied by their owners. We also notice the many sculptures, typical of the Flemish Baroque style, but also because the architect, Julien Destrée, was a wood sculptor. Above the entrance gate we see the symbol of Lille (Fleur de Lys), with next to it the lions of Flanders and the crown of the city (with fortress towers on top) and two horns. Horns of Plenty, to refer to the wealth of Lille.

One of these important sights is the Place du Général de Gaulle, also known as the "Grand Place". A must-see! He was a general, resistance fighter and president - Charles de Gaulle is still a great personality for many French people today. He has been dead for over 50 years and this great square is here in his memory.

You can just drive on it! No hassle with access and such. What amazing. The track itself is quite old and dilapidated, but yes, it is great to be able to drive around in such a monument

11月 26, 2023, Carrefour de l'Arbre Cobbled Sector
Mythical sector of Paris-Roubaix on which many victories have been decided! The first 200 meters are really difficult with a succession of 3 fairly technical turns, be very careful if the cobblestones are wet! The rest is no less difficult with very brittle cobblestones and a heavily curved road, it is quite difficult to stay on the central axis. This area fully deserves its 5 stars!

8月 28, 2023, Roubaix Velodrome
Bicycle history was written here. As important to me as Wimbledon is to tennis players or the Bayern Arena to football fans. Unfortunately, the caretaker saw my intentions in my face and prevented a lap on the oval. A pity.
