A gentle approach to Garlaban.

The cultural identity of Aubagne revolves around two major themes: Marcel Pagnol and Clay. However, in the heart of the old town, the architectural heritage dating back to the 11th century is one of the important reasons inviting you to discover the city.

On the site there are around 80 engravings in memory of the work of Marcel Pagnol. Louis Douard, the sculptor, adds more every year. The very first drawing was the Compass Rose; the subjects are varied: the shield with the arms of Provence, characters (the shepherd and his two sheep), poetic extracts, animals.

Narrow and steep path.

A limestone massif dating from the end of the Mesozoic, it overlooks the town of Aubagne. Its formation is attributed to land folding dating back to the Upper Cretaceous. Dominated by limestone, which was used to produce lime, the massif conceals mineral resources long exploited by man. A clay soil: the work of this material is inseparable from the history of the country of Aubagne and Etoile. Garlaban peaks at 714 meters above sea level.
