It's not worth lugging your bike up there at all. The downhill starts off promisingly, but then it's a really boring trail that ends in an even more challenging ravine. Further on, everything is overgrown. If you want to go up there, you should go hiking, but the downhill doesn't justify the climb. I regretted it.

From Aouste-Sur-Sye to Saillans, the route passes near vineyards and the first cellars of the AOC Clairette de Die appellation, a fruity and sparkling wine. In summer the fields of lavender and other aromatic plants are in bloom. Pretty swimming spots promise a refreshing break.

Pretty views of the river Drome and the valley in both directions, with the tower of Crest visible above the town in a third direction. The bridge has a specific pedestrian/cycle path with seating all the way along it so you can have a good view of the river while catching your breath.

It is beautiful, but the paths are impossible to cycle. Keep in mind that after the steep climbs (+15%) you will have to drag your bike over rocks and extremely steep sections. Going down is faster, especially the part with the stairs. All in all very intense, great to walk but impossible to cycle.

Nice little mountain pass from which there are wonderful trails in every direction. Several officially signposted mountain bike tours cross here.

Very beautiful view. To get there you have to push or carry the bike about 300m, depending on your fitness and riding technique. The descent afterwards makes you quickly forget that.

Here, we find the river which gives its name to the department. The changing colors depending on the time of day and the weather make it a real impressionist painting. This point also offers an excellent view of the Tour de Crest.
