Undine Spring Wittenburg. Since June 2008, the town of Wittenburg has been a member of the "Legends and Fairy Tale Route" association. Like all other member towns, Wittenburg also has its own original fairy tale character: the legendary Undine at her enchanted spring. On the wall in Wittenburg, near the Bürgerpark, a small stream babbles peacefully: the Undine Spring. According to legend, a fairy named Undine once promised a man eternal happiness in love if he sworn fidelity to her. The man kept the promise and pledged his loyalty. Later, however, he married another woman, and Undine punished him with death. But his death brought Undine no satisfaction; quite the opposite. Even though she was deeply unhappy about what had happened, she transformed herself into a spring on the man's grave after the funeral. In this form, she still embraces her beloved with loving arms. As part of the association's membership in the "Legends and Fairytale Route," a life-size wooden statue of Undine was placed at the spring in 2010. It had been crafted in just two days in front of the town's historic town hall. The Fiek'n Fountain in Hagenow depicts a typical scene from everyday life in the town. There, you can see the bronze figures of Mrs. Püttelkow and Fiek'n discussing the latest gossip, while a shoemaker's apprentice secretly eavesdrops.

The current church was built between 1875 and 1879 in the center of the old town on the foundations of a previous building. Between 1974 and 1977, it was extensively remodeled with funding from one of the GDR's church building programs, at a cost of 480,000 Deutschmarks. It is a cruciform church (architecture) according to the building standards of the Eisenach regulations.

Hagenow City Church is the local church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hagenow. The parish belongs to the Parchim provostship in the Mecklenburg church district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany (Northern Church).

A beautiful market square with a historic town hall

Discover this special house in Lauenburg's old town. Lauenburg's narrow house at Elbstrasse 97 is less than 3 metres wide and is particularly pretty to look at. The half-timbered house was built at the end of the Renaissance. The facade was later changed to the original gable triangle, probably to let more light into the rooms through larger windows. The house has 2 full floors and has a basement made of boulders. The visible ceiling beams and posts in the front area of the ground floor are carefully profiled. The carved Renaissance headbands, which are huge in relation to the room, are astonishing. In 1981 the house was restored using the old building materials and has been habitable again since the beginning of 1982. It nestles cutely between the neighbouring houses - in Lauenburg's listed old town you can see the beautiful half-timbered houses side by side.

The Catholic church of the parish of Saint Edith Stein (Church of Christ the King) in Wittenburg, which is now a listed building, was built in 1932 as a redstone, single-nave hall church with an indented choir and an octagonal roof turret for the bells according to plans by the architect Sonnen at Dreilützower Chaussee 2b.
