The viewpoint is in the forest, and the view is not clear at all, only the Granier is visible in a small gap between the leaves.

As you climb up to the Col de l'Alpe, you will find a summit cross dating from the early 20th century. Erected in 1926, it was built to commemorate local climbers and hikers who lost their lives in the Alps.

Superb panorama on the Chartreuse.

It is a summit of the Massif de la Chartreuse located at an altitude of 1,486 meters. From there, there is a superb view of the Chartreuse mountains and the plain of Chambéry.

From the tip of Bornée, a view of the Bauges and Lake Saint-André is revealed. In front of you, Mont Granier with its scars, the last buttress of the Hauts de Chartreuse, reminds us that in 1248, an entire section of this mountain collapsed at night. The landslide claimed 5,000 lives, burying houses, barns and land. Blocks of up to 1,000 m3 spread over 20 km2, before stopping at the foot of Myans, where monks and residents believed at the end of the world. Point of view not easy to access for everyone but very nice!

Nice view over the highest peaks of the Chartreuse, especially to neighboring Mont Granier. The mountain was the site of one of the most devastating rockfalls in the Alps in 1248. When in the year of our visit another small crash thundered into the valley near the top houses of the settlements, the nervousness was clearly felt.
