Espalion is a commune located in the department of Aveyron, in the south-west of France. It is located on the banks of the Lot River, about 40 kilometers east of Rodez. Saint John the Baptist (Saint Jean Baptiste), to whom this church in Espalion is dedicated, is - like Saint Joseph - a man on the threshold from the Old to the New Testament.
