Beautiful sculpture and coat of arms of Belfort, below the fortress.

I noticed this highlight during my search. However, it is not on the Haute Saône Canal but on an independent river, the Savoureuse. According to Wikipedia: The Savoureuse is a right tributary of the Allan, around 41 kilometers long, in the French department of Territoire de Belfort in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It flows through the city of Belfort and drains the western part of the department to the Mediterranean via the Allan, Doubs, Saône and Rhône water system. Impressive complex with the lion towering over it. Well-paved paths lead through the complex. From the top you have a great view of the city of Belfort. At night the lion and the fortress are illuminated. Simply beautiful.

Beautiful cycle route Coulée Verte along the canal. The name is a bit..., I suggested a change on Komoot.

It is a monumental sculpture from 1880 created by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty. Completed in 1880, it is entirely made of red sandstone. The blocks that make it up were sculpted individually, then moved to the cliff below Belfort Castle to be assembled there. Twenty-two meters long and 11 meters high, the colossal work dominates the local landscape.

The Haute-Saône canal, also called the Montbéliard to Haute-Saône canal, is a waterway which begins in the north of the Doubs department, crosses the south-western part of the Territoire de Belfort and of which an unfinished section, is located in the eastern part of Haute-Saône.
