Very disappointing refuge. They're a nuisance when you ask for the weather or the slightest route information. Unpleasant welcome and pushy consumption: the bivouac sites around the refuge are only accessible if you've booked a dinner... and it's impossible to book a dinner on the same day on site! This makes no sense. After talking with other hikers and local people/professionals, this seems normal, and the warden's reputation precedes him... Too bad.

In high season, the refuge can accommodate up to 70 people. It also offers a catering service, and hikers passing through can stop simply for a drink. You will also find a drinking water point, toilets and PRM access.

The Thabor refuge is a pretty little refuge built in the heart of the eponymous massif. It makes an excellent base camp for the ascent of Mount Thabor which peaks at 3,178 meters above sea level. It is also appreciated by travelers who tread the paths of the GR 5. From its doors, access to the Sainte-Marguerite lakes and its beautiful alpine meadows invites you to an easy walk.

It is a very nice refuge, located in a valley at an altitude of 2,490 meters, in the middle of mountain pastures and close to the Sainte-Marguerite lakes.

This is a superb wooden refuge. Friendly atmosphere, exceptional panorama of the mountains, beautiful terraces where you can enjoy a good meal or a drink. What more could you ask for?

But it's called "Pian delle Stelle" On the uphill road (the route winds along the mule track that goes from the Via Modane bridge to the LaMotte grange at the Chaffaux and then to Pian delle Stelle. At the Chaffaux there is the chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena, with frescoes from the 16th century.
