Usson is a beautiful village perched on a volcanic peak facing the Chaîne des Puys, the Monts Dore, and the Cézallier Plateau. It was once the site of a castle where Queen Margot was exiled for 19 years. If you're looking for a sightseeing and historical stop, Usson offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, and you can visit the Saint-Maurice church, the remains of the ramparts, and the statue of the Virgin Mary overlooking the village.

Nonnesette Castle, built on this hill overlooking the Couze Valley, was destroyed by Richelieu in the 17th century. You can still see the remains of the towers, gates, and walls, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

This old suspension bridge linked Issoire on the left bank and Parentignat on the right bank. It was the first in 1831 which made it possible to cross the Allier, replacing the Parentignat, Orbeil and Pradeaux ferries. Since 1976 it has been disused and has been replaced by a more modern bridge.

Issoire is a charming town in Auvergne. The town is now labeled “Most Beautiful Detour of France”. Admire its Saint-Austremoine abbey church which dates from the 12th century, or its Clock Tower. at the bend of an alley you will surely come across a reach which irrigates orchards and gardens in the city center.

This peaceful little town located 800 meters above sea level is an ideal place to stop. You will discover its body of water and its aquatic activities, its castle and the Amethyst house which takes you to discover this stone with many virtues.

The remains of the castle of Marchidial and the Saint-Jean church dominate Champeix and offer a pretty panorama.
