The Nonnweiler Dam serves a variety of purposes, from drinking water supply and cooling water for the Bexbach power plant to electricity generation using jet turbines and, last but not least, as a local recreation area. The circular path around the dam is approximately 11 km long, of which approximately 2 km are also used by the Saarland Cycle Route.
