Typically picturesque, worth seeing French town

Very charming city. Good atmosphere.

Vulliafans with around 700 inhabitants in the Doubs department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region - a magical place with the Pont Vieux - this bridge with its 3 arches was built in the 17th century. Further into the town center there are numerous town and farm houses that were built in the characteristic style of Franche-Comté in the 16th to 18th centuries. One of the oldest houses is the former manor house La Forteresse from the 14th/15th century. The really beautiful thing is the authentic flair.

Beautiful place on the river Loue

Situated on the picturesque Loue, Vuillafans is home to some preserved old mansions and has a charming 16th century bridge over the Loue.

Ornans is very attractive with its houses reflected in the Loue, its elegant limestone cliffs surrounding it, its magnificent church with its imposing Comtois bell tower, the squares and shops of its main avenue, as well as its beautiful forests. Ornans is also the city of Gustave Courbet. The famous painter who was politically involved in the government of the commune and then had to go into exile in Switzerland because he was accused of having been the instigator of the fall of the column on Place Vendôme in Paris. You will learn everything about this native of Ornans by visiting the museum entirely dedicated to him in the city center.

This trail is superb. On the banks of the Loue, the turquoise and emerald reflections of the sun on the river pierce the foliage and offer a superb spectacle. Be careful after the rains, the path can be slippery and some bends are thin and require special attention. No problem in dry weather, but tumbling is never far away with mud.
