A beautiful castle that can be visited. The friendly owner gave us a tour. There's a good infrastructure for cyclists, including a well-equipped workshop. All free of charge or in exchange for donations.

Founded in the 11th century Benedictine priory of Melle belonged to about 50 km away abbey Saint-Jean-d'Angély (also highly recommended!). The former priory church St-Hilaire is a consistently richly decorated pilgrimage church.
