Fort Feyzin is a former military fort built after the war of 1870; there are several all around Lyon. The fort itself is open Monday to Saturday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. A loop by mountain bike, running or on foot and possible in the small woods that surround it, several fitness equipment are present on the route.

Fort de Feyzin is part of the defense system created after the 1870 war by General Séré de Rivières. It was one of the detached forts responsible for defending the city of Lyon. It bears an inscription naming the Emperor Claudius: Ti (berius) Claudius Drusi f (ilius) / Caesar August (us) / Germanicus, with the abbreviations giving its full title: pont (ifex) max (imus) tr (ibunicia) pot (estate) III / imp (erator) III co (n) s (ul) III p (ater) p (atriae) / VII, which corresponds to the year 43, the earliest known date indicating the start of Roman exploitation of this career. This terminal also constitutes an element of archaeological dating for the construction of the monuments of Lugdunum such as the ancient theater of Fourvière, with the use of the choin de Fay.
