⚠️If too crowded up there, the desk receptionist might refuse you to enter even though you bought tickets online for that day and hour ! And you would have to negotiate with the Tourist organisation in order to get reimbursed ... so do not wait for 30 min before the closing time to get in !

Erected in 1834, 73 meters above sea level and proud of its 248 steps, it dominates Cap Hainsart, so called in the past because of the oak trees which surrounded it and which have been replaced by tamarisk. This cape marks the limit separating the sandy coast of the Landes from the rocky coast of the Basque Country.

It pays off to climb the 248 steps in the tower. It offers a magnificent panoramic view along the coasts in France and Spain. With good visibility over Biarritz to the snow-capped Pyrrhenean peaks.
