The village of William the Conqueror is a group of historic buildings located in Dives-sur-Mer, Normandy. It is a former coaching inn dating from the 15th century, which was transformed into an inn and decorated by an art collector named Le Rémois at the end of the 19th century. Le Rémois wanted to pay homage to William the Conqueror, the famous Duke of Normandy who conquered England in 1066. He installed wood sculptures, statues, busts and a fresco inspired by the Bayeux tapestry in the three village course. Today, the William the Conqueror art village is open free to the public. You can visit the tourist office, which exhibits 14th century stained glass windows representing musical angels. You can also meet artists, restorers, antique dealers and craftsmen who occupy the village's shops.
