Among the villages and hamlets which bear witness to the history of the Aulne maritime valley, Le Faou is one of the must-sees. This small town of character brings together beautiful 16th century corbelled houses, a church with a fine Renaissance bell tower and a port. Near the town, the church of Rumengol stands on the remains of a Druid altar.

Le Faou has a small old town with the very typical medieval houses of Brittany and a beautiful church with an interior worth seeing.

Beautiful downtown with Breton buildings right on the foothills of the Bay of L'Aulne maritime.

Eglise Saint-Sauveur Le Faou The church was founded by the Knights Hospitallers of the Order of St. John. The building was rebuilt in 1544 and 1680, with a beautiful domed Renaissance-style bell tower and overlooking the harbor. Its short nave contrasts with a large double transept. The church tower, very high, dates from 1629, the porch bears the dates 1593 and 1613 and has preserved the wooden statues of the twelve apostles, the apse (in Beaumanoir style) dates from 1680. The high altar and the two confessionals date from the 17th century, as well as the baptismal font: the baptismal font with snakes is unique in Brittany for the richness of its sculptures.
